Welcome to AlaMATYC

AlaMATYC – The Alabama Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges is an affiliate of AMATYC, The American Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges. The association provides a forum for improvement in the instruction of mathematics in the first two years of college.

AMATYC National Conference in Austin a Success!

AMATYC’S 37th Annual Conference, “Shootin’ for the Stars”, was held November 10-13, 2011 in Austin Texas.  Representing AlaMATYC at the conference were President Jim Gleason, Publications Coordinator Shawanda Thomas, and Past-President Annette Cook.   A multitude of professional development sessions were available as well as informative messages from the featured conference speakers.  The keynote address was presented by Kenneth M. Golden and was entitled, “Climate Change and Mathematics of Sea Ice.”  Terri Manning was featured at the annual Saturday breakfast and shared on the topic of “The Millennial Generation:  The Next Generation in College Enrollment.”   The annual AMATYC conference is always a very organized and first class professional development experience.  Make plans now to attend the 2012 conference which will be held in Jacksonville, Florida.
